	Marie Shilo Marie, a spinner, does not trust her own nature, and lives in isolation. Born as a lab experiment, she trusts no one. Sanctuary in Vampyre Falls is her only solace. Her nature is lethal, linked closely with the Black Widow spider. The only one she trusts is Lukas. He is her lover, her master, her mate. Marie knows that the others in Vampyre Falls do not trust her, and, in fact, several truly despise her, fear her, and wish her dead. She clings to Lukas as her lifeline. He makes it possible for her to exist--to want to continue to exist.

But a new cunning evil surfaces that requires Marie to travel beyond the boundaries of her safe haven. At the order of the Council of Thirteen, Marie must comply. Even if it means her death.
